Dazed Spring  2019

At a time when trans rights are increasingly under threat, the spring
2019 issue of Dazed takes a stand for the global creativity of the
LGBTQIA+ communities, and truly infinite forms of identity.

In a rare cover story, US military whistleblower Chelsea
Manning reveals how she is embracing a new era of activism.
She also guest-edits a section of the issue, selecting a group of
six essential American activists who are shining a light on some
of the biggest issues affecting trans and non-binary people today.
They are just some of the myriad voices in an issue that celebrates the
LGBTQIA+ individuals pushing culture forward in their respective
genres, from the new frontier of visibility in fashion to the queer
revolution in television.

As Manning says to writer Diana Tourjée, “Even when groups
are suppressed, there’s still the chance of survival... Knowing that you
have a community behind you, a community that loves you and will
show up for you, means the world. It meant the world to me.”
